Purchasing tickets
If an event or exhibition requires an exhibition ticket, you will not be able to enter, join or attend that event or exhibition without a ticket. All our online listings will make clear whether a ticket is required.
1. Definitions
The following words laid out within these Terms & Conditions have the following meanings: -
- “Quentin Blake Centre” - refers to Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.
- “Confirmation” - Confirmation email acknowledging your order and containing the details of your order.
- “Contract” - Contract for the purchase of tickets made between you and Quentin Blake Centre.
- “e-ticket” - ticket supplied by Quentin Blake Centre in electronic form.
- “third party” - a party other than you or Quentin Blake Centre.
- “ticket” - means any ticket to attend;
(i.) a temporary exhibition;
(ii.) a gallery space that has timed entry, and / or a restricted capacity; or
(iii.) an event within our public programme.
2. General
2.1. These terms and conditions relate to the purchase and supply of tickets sold by Quentin Blake Centre. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before purchasing any tickets as by doing so, you accept that these terms and conditions will govern all Contracts.
2.2. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to affect your statutory rights.
2.3. These terms and conditions do not apply to any products listed for sale on the Quentin Blake Centre shop website to which separate terms and conditions apply.
2.4. These terms and conditions do not apply to any ticket purchases made via any authorised agent and you should refer to the authorised agent’s terms and conditions if you have purchased tickets via an authorised agent.
3. Purchasing Tickets
3.1. When purchasing multiple tickets, you accept these terms and conditions on behalf of all persons you are purchasing tickets on behalf of, and you accept responsibility for all payments due from the aforementioned persons.
3.2. If there are any changes to your details once your booking has been concluded, it is your responsibility to inform Quentin Blake Centre.
3.3. Quentin Blake Centre reserves the right to place restrictions on;
3.3.1. the volume of any tickets ordered; and
3.3.2. the number of places available for events and / or timed entry into gallery spaces, including temporary exhibitions
3.4. It is your responsibility to ensure that any tickets issued to you are accurate.
3.5. Any purchase of tickets is only valid when processed by Quentin Blake Centre or an agent authorised by Quentin Blake Centre.
3.6. Quentin Blake Centre shall be entitled to make any changes to an event as it deems reasonable and necessary, including changes to speakers, performers, location, and other such matters.
3.7. Quentin Blake Centre reserves the right to ask for proof of eligibility for any concessions upon presentation of your ticket.
3.8. Tickets may not be resold for commercial purposes or at a premium. If a ticket is resold in breach of this condition, the ticket will be void and the bearer of the ticket or the person claiming the right to attend will be refused admission. No compensation will be payable to you by us.
4. Additional Provisions applying to tickets purchased
4.1. If you choose to purchase tickets on the Quentin Blake Centre website, your Contract will be concluded by an Order Confirmation screen confirming the details of the order, along with an order number. You will also receive a Confirmation email containing the details of the Contract to the designated email address you supply. You will receive your e-tickets as an attachment to this email.
4.2. The only language available for the conclusion of a Contract online is English.
4.3. You are responsible for entering your details correctly when completing a Contract online.
4.4. You will be required to present your ticket/s (along with any proof of eligibility for concession) to gain admission to the event, temporary exhibition, or gallery you have booked.
4.5. Disabled ticket holders are entitled to a free ticket for their personal assistant or carer which must be booked at the same time as their own full price or concessionary ticket.
5. Price and payment
5.1. The price (including all taxes where relevant) of all tickets are specified on the website.
5.2. A small padlock icon should be visible in the address bar next to the website address. This is to guarantee that your actions are safe. The website address should also start with https:// (the S stands for secure). Finally, if you click the padlock symbol or just to the left of the address bar, you should see information on the site certificate. This should tell you who has registered the site.
6. Delivery of Tickets
6.1. Tickets are received via E-ticket by electronic mail. This is Quentin Blake Centre’s preferred method of delivery to reduce paper waste. There is no delivery charge for this option.
6.2. Delivery options available are stated at the time of purchase.
6.3. Quentin Blake Centre shall be entitled to enforce the option of ticket collection where proof of concession or entitlement to any discounted ticket is required.
6.4. Where e-tickets are not received within 24 hours of completing your purchase, it is your responsibility to notify Quentin Blake Centre in order to arrange for new tickets to be issued.
6.5. If you do not receive your confirmation email or tickets due to circumstances outside of our control (for example, if your booking is made with an incorrect email address or your email settings treat Ticketsolve emails as spam) and you do not notify us in good time before the event, we cannot be held responsible.
7. Refund and Exchange Policy
7.1. Tickets cannot be exchanged or money refunded.
7.2. Please ensure that the tickets are correct at the time of receipt, as we may not be able to rectify mistakes at a later time.
7.2.1. In exceptional circumstances, exchange may be offered to another date and time for the same event. Where tickets are exchanged for others of a higher value, you must pay the difference at the time of exchange.
7.2.2. If the event date and time is sold out, at its discretion Quentin Blake Centre can offer to attempt to resell your tickets to any customer(s) on a waiting list. Please note that Quentin Blake Centre cannot guarantee the resale of any ticket(s).
7.3. We reserve the right to cancel events. Where Quentin Blake Centre is unable to execute a Contract on the date(s) agreed or where an event has to be abandoned less than halfway through, Quentin Blake Centre will offer you the choice of one of the following options:
7.3.1. A refund to you for the face value of the tickets purchased. Our maximum liability will not exceed the total amount you paid for your ticket.
7.3.2. Where possible, exchange to another date and time for the same event.
7.4. Quentin Blake Centre will issue a refund to you using the same method of payment that you used to purchase the tickets.
8. Alterations
8.1. All tickets are sold subject to Quentin Blake Centre’s right to make any alterations to any event as it deems reasonable and necessary.
9. Liability and events beyond Quentin Blake Centre’s control
9.1. Neither you nor Quentin Blake Centre shall be liable to the other in respect of loss, damage or delay, or any failure to deliver if the cause of such loss etc., shall arise from any act of government or other competent authority or any public utility or external, postal, or courier services or Internet Service Provider, flood, storm, tempest or other freak of nature, riot, civil or commotion, action of hostile foreign state (whether or not a formal declaration of war has been made given or received), fire, explosion, malicious damage, act of God or other force major occurrence which could not have been avoided or mitigated by the application of due diligence or foresight.
10. Safety and Enjoyment
10.1. Your attendance at our events is at all times subject to any notice to attendees that we post on our website or send by email, and to the direction, supervision and guidance of our staff. This may include directions in relation to health and safety and online security.
10.2. Quentin Blake Centre reserves the right to refuse admission and may request any ticket holders to leave (taking any such appropriate action which may be required to enforce this right) if it considers it to be necessary or desirable to do so. In this case we will have no liability to you. Quentin Blake Centre may also, on certain occasions, have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of its patrons.
10.3. Quentin Blake Centre cannot guarantee entry for latecomers; please allow time to travel to arrive before the advertised time on your ticket(s). In the event you arrive after the time on your ticket, Quentin Blake Centre will attempt to accommodate you, but late entry is not guaranteed.
10.4. To be admitted you must be in possession of a valid ticket and must provide proof of eligibility for any concession.
11. Third Parties
11.1. Nothing contained in any Contract is intended to be enforceable pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by any third party.
12. Severance
12.1. If any part of these Conditions shall be deemed unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable then that provision shall be deemed to be severable from the Conditions and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any of the remaining provisions of these Conditions.
13. Jurisdiction
13.1. These Terms will be governed by and interpreted according to the laws of England and Wales. All disputes arising under the Agreement will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.

Any donation you make will be processed and administered by Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, a charity registered in England and Wales (1095210).
Donations will always be used for our charitable objectives.
Donations can be made via this website, by text and by post. Donations by post should be made by cheque payable to ‘Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration’ sent to Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, c/o Bennetts Associates, 1 Rawstorne Place, London, EC1V 7NL. By making a donation via any of these channels you confirm that you agree to these terms.
You must be aged 18 or over to make a donation.
You must not use borrowed, stolen, laundered or forged payment methods to make your donation. Should you do so, you agree to accept full responsibility for such action and to indemnify Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in respect of all actions, claims, damages, liability, fees, costs and expenses whatsoever that arise as a result of your actions.
We cannot refund any donations made to us.
Large donations of £10,000 or more cannot be processed online. If you opt to Gift Aid a donation, you confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and agree to Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration claiming tax relief on all past, present and future donations until you notify us otherwise. You confirm that you pay or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount that Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration reclaim for the tax year (6 April to 5 April the following year) and that Council Tax and VAT do not qualify towards Gift Aid, and that you will let us know if this changes. You confirm the address given is your home address.
We will process your personal information in accordance with, data protection legislation. Any personal data that is provided to us in the course of any transaction with you (with the exception of any credit card or bank details which shall be kept confidential) shall be processed in accordance with our privacy policy.
