Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration is delighted to announce celebrated visual artist Oliver Jeffers (born 1977) as the newest Trustee to join its board. Jeffers is an Australian-born Northern Irish artist, illustrator and writer widely known for his children’s picture books including How to Catch a Star (2004) and Lost and Found (2005).

Jeffers joins illustrator Marion Deuchars in bringing the perspectives and experience of working illustrators to the Board, which also represents specialisms including museums, community partnerships, finance and business. Chaired by author and journalist John Kampfner, trustees will support and steer the Centre towards its opening in Clerkenwell in 2026. Once open, the Centre will be world’s largest arts space dedicated to illustration, with dynamic exhibitions exploring illustration from around the world and a display of Blake’s archive as well as public gardens, a café and learning facilities.

Working across illustration, painting, bookmaking, collage, performance and sculpture, Jeffers has a distinctive, curious approach. Jeffers' original artwork has been exhibited at museums and institutions across the globe. His books have been published in 49 languages and he has been awarded the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Gold Medal, the Blue Peter Book Award, Irish Children’s Book of the Year, Bologna Ragazzi Award, an Emmy, a BAFTA and an MBE.
